Study Abroad in Nanjing: Overview

Program at a glance

  • Fall or spring semester
  • Open to college freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors
  • 2.5 minimum GPA required
  • Program fee includes tuition, housing, meals, stay in Shanghai on arrival and departure, excursions and cultural activities, airfare if selected, trip to Beijing, and more
  • Program in Mandarin language study for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels taught in Mandarin by University professors for 6 credits. Study with other international students
  • Special courses taught in English on Chinese Cultural History, Economic and Business Development in China, Chinese Philosophy and Religion, and International Relations/Chinese Foreign Policy (3 to 4 credits). A unique program for AIFS students
  • Students are enrolled in the Nanjing University Institute for International Students and live in on-campus student housing with a meal allowance for on- campus and nearby facilities and access to the social and cultural life of the University
  • The local AIFS Resident Director and staff organize cultural activities and housing, act as a liaison between students and the university, and are available 24/7 in case of emergencies
  • Transcripts issued by Nanjing University
  • Student visa must be obtained from the Chinese consulate before departure from the U.S.
