Orientation in Cannes
To ensure students obtain the maximum benefit from their stay in France, AIFS arranges a 2-week language and cultural orientation in Cannes that includes language classes at all levels of proficiency. Recommended for 2 credits.
Collège International de Cannes
Cannes is a sunny Mediterranean
resort with a mild climate. Classes are taught by the faculty of the Collège, which issues transcripts for the orientation
program. The Collège is a private institution of higher learning
founded in 1931 and is certified by the National Ministry of Education. Situated about a mile from the Old Port and elegant boutiques on the world famous Boulevard de la Croisette, the Collège is set in spacious and attractive grounds. Students generally walk or take a bus to the city center. Facilities at the Collège include a theater, library, snack bar, T.V. room, game room and volleyball court.
Orientation housing and meals
Students stay in Collège dorms (bed linen and towels are provided) and receive three meals a day in the Collège dining hall.
Orientation language courses
Elementary French 100, Upper
Elementary French 150, Intermediate French 200, Upper Intermediate French 250, Advanced French 300 and Upper Advanced French 400 are worth 2 credits in the fall and spring. Classes meet 15 hours a week in small groups of approximately
15. Emphasis is on written French, basic grammar, pronunciation,
phrases and vocabulary needed for everyday life. Work on written skills helps prepare students for the Sorbonne placement test.
Students should put the appropriate course number on the application along with other course selections.
