Study Abroad in Hyderabad: Housing & Meals

Two housing options are available for this program. Most students choose the option of living on campus in the University's new International Student Hostel. This is a small residence specially designed for study abroad students. Facilities are of a high standard with single and double occupancy rooms with shared bathrooms. All rooms are air conditioned, and the residence also provides a dining room, computer room, T.V. room and laundry facilities. All meals are taken in the residence cafeteria, which provides good quality Indian and Western food.

Students also have the option of staying in a homestay with a local Indian family. Families are carefully screened by the University of Hyderabad, and living standards are comparable to those in the West. Most families are located close to the University. Students will be provided with a room within the family home (single rooms cannot be guaranteed). They will eat breakfast and dinner with the family daily and will be provided with a small allowance for the purchase of lunch. Given local conditions (public transportation, food habits, safety issues), the University recommends homestay only for full-year students in their second semester.

AIFS always arranges the best accommodation available for students. Changes in housing will be considered only in the event of health and safety issues.
