Study Abroad in Limerick: Travel

3-day visit to London (Included in fee)

Students have the great opportunity to spend an action-packed weekend in London, England.

Friday, November 14 or March 27 Afternoon flight from Shannon to London. Transfer to a centrally-located hotel. Rest of day free.

Saturday, November 15 or March 28 Morning sightseeing tour with a professional guide who will point out some of London’s most famous landmarks including Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament and the Tower of London. Afternoon and evening free to explore London on your own.

Sunday, November 16 or March 29 Morning and afternoon free to explore the sights. Early evening transfer to the airport for flight to Shannon. Transfer to Limerick.

Includes hotel, breakfasts, airport transfers, sightseeing tour and local guide. Lunch and dinner are not included.

Excursions within Ireland

Students can travel easily by rail and bus throughout Ireland from Limerick. Dublin, Galway and Cork are each about two hours away. Shannon airport is 16 miles from Limerick, making flights to other European cities highly accessible.

The University of Limerick also arranges a day trip for study abroad students to the West of Ireland and an overnight trip to Dublin.

Tour to West of Ireland (Included in fee)

Saturday, September 20 or Saturday, April 18 Students visit the West of Ireland. Typically in the Fall semester students will spend time at the University of Limerick Activities Center at Killaloe, with the opportunity to take part in water sports and other outdoor activities. In the Spring semester students will visit the seaside town of Lahinch and a take a guided tour of the Burren in Co.Clare. Cultural events such as historical tours and Irish set dancing are also available.

Transportation, lunch, sightseeing and entrance fees are included.

Overnight visit to Dublin (Included in fee)

Saturday, December 6 or May 2 Each semester, students go on an overnight trip to Dublin. The trip includes a tour of historical and cultural Dublin and a visit to the Book of Kells. Overnight in a local hostel.

Sunday, December 7 or May 3 Morning and afternoon free to explore the city. Students depart by bus for Limerick.

Transportation, sightseeing, entrance fees and lunch are included.

Students receive a flight voucher worth €40 to pay all or part of the cost of a trip to any one of 32 European cities (depending on space available). Many flights are available for €40 round trip but not necessarily all depending on factors such as day and date of booking.
