Study Abroad in Limerick: Student Life
Cultural activities
To introduce students to the life and culture of Ireland, the AIFS Resident Director organizes social and cultural activities, both on campus and in Limerick and the surrounding area. Included in the program fee are full-day excursions to Limerick City, Dublin and Lahinch.
University Sports Arena
The University has one of the largest indoor sports complexes in Ireland. AIFS provides a membership to all interested AIFS students. The University Sports Arena includes a 50-meter swimming pool, an indoor jogging track, a 60-meter sprint track, four full-size courts for basketball, volleyball, badminton and indoor soccer, 45 cardiovascular machines including treadmills, cycles and cross-trainers and 35 resistance training machines and free weight stations. The arena is right on campus, a few minutes' walk from the main academic buildings.
Computer access and e-mail
The Information Technology Department provides computing, communications, printing and audio-visual services. Students have access to PCs installed with a comprehensive range of applications and providing access to online information sources. AIFS students receive free e-mail accounts. Access to the University network from a student's room is established on request, although Macintosh computers are not compatible.
Transportation
Students can easily walk from their housing to all campus facilities. A public bus from the University takes 10 minutes to Limerick. Public transportation is inexpensive, as are taxis from the center of town to the University.
