Katherine received her BA (Honors) in Russian and German from the University of Sheffield, England. She spent a semester in Hamburg, Germany, in fall semester 2001 and at St. Petersburg State University in Russia in spring semester 2002. She returned to teach English as a foreign language at The Benedict School in St. Petersburg for academic year 2003-2004.

In June 2005, Katherine completed an MA in Politics and Sociology at The European University in St. Petersburg. During that academic year she was the Representative for British University students in St. Petersburg on the Russian Language Undergraduate Studies program, sponsored by the network of British universities.

Katherine and her assistant work as a team providing academic advice to the students, introducing them into the community and handling communication with the University.
