AIFS Resident Director Gaye Michaels is an American who has lived in Salamanca since 1981. Married to a Salmantino, she has taught English as a second language in Salamanca and coordinated study abroad programs at the University from 1987 to 1993 when she joined the AIFS team. She spent her junior and senior years of undergraduate study at the University of Salamanca through the SUNY Cortland program and received her BA from Cortland in 1983.

The Resident Director provides academic advice, introduces you to the community and handles communication with the University.

Julia Garcia received her three-year degree from the University of Salamanca. She is a native of Galicia, but has lived in Salamanca since age 14. Julia joined AIFS in 1985 and has been the Assistant Director of the Salamanca semester program for the past 20 years. Since 1998 Julia has been the Resident Director of the AIFS Summer School program at the University of Salamanca.
